Nissy strummed the guitar tiredly. He was treated to a sound that didn't particularly resemble any type of cord. Exhausted, he dumped the guitar on the floor and lay back on the bed. Closing his eyes he listened to the sounds of the world around him. Birds singing happily in the warm, spring sun, passers-by chatting merrily as they met in the street, distant traffic honking and revving as they sped along the motorway. Life moved on seamlessly, oblivious to the aggravated musician, who currently had sat upright scratching his head.

"Argh, come on," he scolded himself. "It's just a song. Just write the song. Argh!"

He slapped himself on the forehead, immediately wishing he hadn't as he now had the impending throbbing to deal with. Gently massaging his head, he looked at the paper in front of him. Among the various scribbles and scores (and occasional doodle) was a melody he'd pieced together in the hours before. He stared intensely at the paper, hoping against all odds that words would suddenly appear in all the right places. But no, the page remained as it had for the past two hours.

A familiar buzzing noise distracted him from his useless thoughts. He picked up his cell phone and lay back down again. He smiled as he read the name that flashed on the screen. Grinning, he opened the message:

'Hey you, I know you said not to bother you
but I couldn't help it XP
Was just thinking about this time last year
when we went to the park and that kid splashed
you with the water balloon XD
Can't wait to see you later <3
Love, Shin'

He paused for a giggle at the memory. That was a fun day. It was also their first date. They decided to have an ice-cream as they walked through the park when they passed a few kids playing with water balloons in the sun. One kid had misdirected one of the balloons, which burst on Nissy's stomach. Shinjiro laughed so much that he didn't notice Nissy charge at him. He tackled him to the ground and they play wrestled for a minute. When they both tired themselves out, they lay tangled up on the grass and it was at that moment they kissed for the first time. He knew the instant their lips touched that he was in love.

Returning from the memory, he sent Shinjiro a message;

'Yeah, that was some day XD
Hope we can have one again sometime
Can't wait to see you too
Love you'

Putting his cell back he sat up and looked at the paper. Smiling he picked up the pen and began to write...

After dinner Nissy and Shinjiro cuddled together on the sofa. Shinjiro made them both a meal as a mini celebration of their first anniversary. It was a nice way to spend the evening, just the two of them together. Now that they were resting, Nissy could feel Shinjiro was about to drift into sleep but not before he had gotten his present.

"Hey, wake up," he said, giving him a little shake.

"What?" Shinjiro asked. "Don't you dare asked me to wash up."

Nissy smiled. "No, like I would ever. I just don't want you to fall asleep before you get your present."

Shinjiro perked up and turned to face him. "Present? But I thought we agreed not to-"

"Don't worry," Nissy interrupted, standing up. " I didn't buy anything, this came straight from the heart."

Shinjiro looked confused as Nissy revealed the guitar from its hiding place behind the chair. Kneeling on the carpet in front of Shin he started to play.

Nissy put the guitar on the ground and looked up.

Tears were rolling down Shinjiro's cheeks. Gently Nissy reached up and wiped the tears anyway with his thumb. Shinjiro moved forward onto his knees. Holding Shinjiro's hands, Nissy looked right in his eyes.

"I mean it," he whispered. "There is nothing I wouldn't do for you."

Shinjiro smiled and gave a teary giggle as their foreheads touched lightly.

"I know," he said, through the tears. "Because I know I'm in love too."

Nissy then felt tears begin to stream down his own face has Shinjiro leaned in and kissed him.
